Overview

FuelHop is a Chrome extension and web app that helps users find the cheapest petrol and diesel prices at nearby fuel stations in Great Britain. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data FuelHop accesses, how it is used, and what is stored.

Data We Access

Location

FuelHop requests access to your device's GPS location solely to find fuel stations near you. Your location is used in real time to calculate distances to nearby stations. It is never transmitted to our servers, never shared with third parties, and never stored beyond your current session.

Postcode or Town Searches

If you choose to search manually, the text you enter is sent to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim geocoding service to resolve a map coordinate. No personally identifiable information is attached to this request.

Fuel Price Data

Prices are fetched directly from publicly available UK Government CMA open data feeds published by fuel retailers. FuelHop does not collect, store or transmit any personal data in connection with these requests.

Data We Store Locally

FuelHop stores the following data in your browser's local Chrome storage only, on your device:

Your saved/favourite stations
Your most recent search results (cached for up to 30 minutes for faster reopening)
Your last selected radius and sort preference

None of this data leaves your device. It is never transmitted to FuelHop or any third party.

Data We Do Not Collect

FuelHop does not collect, store or transmit:

Your name, email address or any contact information
Your precise location history
Your browsing history
Any payment or financial information
Any usage analytics or telemetry

Third Party Services

FuelHop makes requests to the following third party services:

OpenStreetMap Nominatim — for resolving manually entered postcodes and towns to coordinates. See nominatim.org for their privacy policy.
UK retailer fuel price feeds — publicly available data endpoints, real pump prices from the UK's biggest supermarket and branded forecourts.
Google Maps — when you tap a station to get directions, you are taken to Google Maps in a new tab. Google's own privacy policy applies from that point.

Children's Privacy

FuelHop is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
